Indoctrination is controversial in education especially in moral education. Some people agree for the merits of indoctrination and consider it is necessary, while some people disagree because indoctrination goes against the real purpose of moral education and consider it must be abandoned. Actually indoctrination is neutral, as a way of education it only concerns about appropriateness and rationality. The issue has been discussed by many people from different angles. This paper discusses the issue from a ethic dimension angle by ways of literature and analysis, elaborates the rationality of indoctrination, demonstrates the importance and necessity of indoctrination in moral education from the angles of heteronomy, self-discipline, environment and cultivation based on the educatee,characteristics in the stage of basic education, and point out the jeopardize and reasons of non-indoctrination, and then propose that indoctrination is teacher’s right in their teaching, and teachers has responsibility to lead sublimity besides improving their academic ability and conducting the educatee facing diverse value choices. This paper consists of four partsThe first part to analyze the importance of indoctrination in moral education in basic education theoretically and practically, demonstrate the importance and necessity of indoctrination in moral education in basic education by identifying the particularity of the educates, analyzing the contradiction of indoctrination between intern and external, defining the connotation of indoctrination.The second part to distinguish the difference between virtue and moral knowledge based on aspects of non-ethic dimension indoctrination for ways of education are not laws of morality. Ethic dimension indoctrination is based on the educates’ characteristics,it is not a way to force the educates mentally internalizing moral knowledge.The third part to analyze the reasons of non-ethic dimension indoctrination in basic education from the moral pursuit in a changing society, the values confusion with its facial diversity, the impropriety of moral education, the lost of the subject of moral education, then elaborate the reasons for invalidity and the importance of indoctrination of moral education.The forth part is about some suggestions of taking indoctrination in moral education, it helps the teacher understand the laws of moral education in basic education, examine the trend of relative moralism, improve their academic ability and lead sublimity simultaneously and exert their authority for indoctrination is a basic right in their teaching.
