In the contemporary age with fast development of the science and society, the cultivation of the innovative consciousness and innovation ability is a great challenge to the whole educational circles. Because of the dominant position of the national innovative consciousness and innovation ability in the international competitiveness and the development level of a country. innovation is the most sonorous and forceful word in the whole world. On the level of basic education, the innovative consciousness and innovation ability usually arise from the scientific literacy directly, i.e. comprehension of the science concept and scientific inquiry ability. Therefore, the cultivation of scientific literacy deeply lies in the new curriculum standard, and becomes the development direction of all the disciplines of basic education.The new curriculum reform of biological course in middle school focuses on the cultivation of the scientific literacy in biological science and the scientific inquiry ability is then highlighted as the most important goal of education. This reform helps the students acquire knowledge actively other than passively by shifting the focus from the inheritance and accumulation of knowledge to the scientific inquiry ability, and hence ignites the innovative consciousness and innovation ability of the students. On the base of biological education in past several years and supervision of the scientific exploring practice recently, some teaching methodologies are proposed to enhance the interesting, observation ability, experimental operation skill and exploring ability in biological curriculum through the sampling survey and document analysis.This dissertation is divided into five chapters. Chapter1gives the background of this work, and analyzes some relative documents and proposes the research method. The detailed concept of the scientific inquiry ability is presented and the characteristics of cultivation of the scientific inquiry ability of the junior middle school students are discussed in Chapter2. Chapter3analyzes the current situation of cultivation of the scientific inquiry ability in biological science. And then in Chapter4. the teaching methodologies are proposed to adapt itself to the cultivation of the scientific inquiry ability according to the current situation. At last, the conclusions are drawn in Chapter5. and some suggestions are given.
