With the rapid economic development of our society, there comes the various phenomena one after another, one of the most obviously striking at present is the widening income gap between the rich and the poor. And in a strong knowledge-based economy, technology and education plays a very important role. Meanwhile, China’s nine-year compulsory education system and the enlarging college enrollment results has arisen the world’s attention, but also inequalities in education is emerging. On the macro-economic background, the income distribution gap has affected the inequalities in education between the rich and the poor, all of these are worthy of concern. This article will focus on the empirical research about the analyze of impact of the income distribution gap on education gap in order to better deepen the understanding of the income distribution gap and the education gap. This paper is in terms of human capital theory, on the basis of the theoretical model of intergenerational effects, through the labor market transmission mechanism. And from the perspective of demand, we do an empirical test on the relationship between the income distribution gap and education gap, using the panel data of year2000-2009through China’s31provinces in this paper. The results of studies were as follows:1. At present in China, the income distribution gap has a positive effect on the education gap, that is to say, when the income distribution gap is larger, the education gap will accordingly larger too, and has considerable explanatory power.2.The current per capital income has a negative effect on the education gap, and the coefficient is-0.0208.Compared to the other variables coefficient, it is large, which shows that the economic effect of income on the education gap is great.3.The rate of local college students budget expenditure on education accounted for per capital GDP has a positive impact on the education gap. Due to the tilt input of education expenses, the rich with high income invisibly against the education resources which the poor with low income ought to access, then enlarge the education gapAThe impact of the urbanization rate on the education gap in this empirical data analysis is very insignificant. We guess the possible causes may be that the socio-economic status lags behind and has not substantially been altered during the process of urbanization. Finally, according to the empirical results of this article, we draw the main conclusions and recommendations, also on the basis of the preliminary study of this paper,we draw the future outlook where efforts could be done.
