The Study on Physical Education Teachers Supporting Rural Schools takes physical education in Enshi area, Hubei province as an example to explore their living situations and the problems and challenges they face. The study also includes some constructive responses and suggestions to enrich the supporting mode and provide experiences for other subjects.Based on document study, questionnaire survey and field interview, this article investigated the status of teachers supporting rural schools in Enshi. According the study, policy defects include:simple selecting process, vague incentives, defective training and evaluation systems, and re-employment settlement hysteresis, lack of follow-up development driving forces, and not-in-place incentives and policies. Most of these teachers come from undeveloped rural areas, and graduated from second-and third-tiered comprehensive universities and normal colleges. Employment pressure makes them choose to be supporting teachers. The supported schools are general secondary and primary schools, which lack sports facilities, did not receive good results from the new round of Basic Education Curriculum Reform, and face the problem of unsound training and evaluation system in their reform efforts. Low salary, big pressure and uncertainties in future employment are the problems facing them.The study points out: developing and implementing rigorous selecting and accountability rules, building "input and output" systems for the Teachers Supporting Rural Schools Action Plan are the preconditions. Establishing a comprehensive training system for PE supporting teachers, adopting the training mode of Department of Education-Education Bureau-central schools-schools, creating situations for the re-employment of supporting teachers, and enhance social support are the basic guarantees; improve teachers’ motivation of self-development and explore a good way for future development are the ways out for supporting PE teachers.
