In the early20th century, Rudolf Steiner(1861—1925), an Austrian philosopher and Anthroposopheran begin to propagandize his childhood education ideas, and established a waldorf school based on his anthroposophy in1919. Not after long, a waldorf kindergarten was established in the same Waldorf school. With about90years development, more than1,000waldorf schools and2,000Waldorf kindergartens, child care centers and preschools have established in66countries and regions until2010. In September2004, the first Waldorf School opened in Chengdu, and then, in Beijing, Shanghai, Qingdao, etc. After just five to six years, the major cities of China have founded a larger number of the Waldorf kindergartens and children’s homes.Based on past researches, the thesis discussed the development, the theoretically basis, and the practice of the waldorf early childhood curriculum. Then discuss the strong points and shortcomings of waldorf kindergarten curriculum.This paper is divided into six parts. First, introduction introduces the origins of this research, its references, definition of the conceptions, the research aim, methods, and routs. Second, the first chapter deals with the origin of the waldorf kindergarten which is discussed from the social backgrounds, and Rudolf Steiner’s life, the development of waldorf kindergarten, and the basic ideology of the waldorf kindergarten, which is discussed from three points of views:the awareness of the society, philosophy and psychology. Third, the second chapter explores the aim, content of Waldorf kindergarten curriculum. Fourth, the third chapter is about the organization and implement of waldorf early childhood curriculum. Fifth, the fourth chapter is about circumstance, teacher and children of waldorf early childhood curriculum. At last, the sixth chapter deals with the positive aspects and the controversy of Waldorf kindergarten curriculum.
