This paper aims to draw on the iconography to explore how to enhance the teaching efficiency of the high school art appreciation course.The establishment of the new curriculum standards, the role of art education has been a large degree of attention, the opening of the high school art appreciation course, is to let the students roam the long river of art which, under the guidance of the teachers to observe and analyze works of art, and thus be able to understand the author is hidden in the picture behind the inner spiritual meaning as well as social and cultural significance. To foster the students a love for art, to enhance art appreciation and deepen students’ higher order thinking mode, and promote the development of the overall quality of students.This article is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction, is the research background and limits the scope of the research and research status, significance and for this study design is described.The second part of the first evaluation and analysis of the new curriculum of high school art appreciation course the status quo. Discussed from three small portion of the first point is to explore the role of high school culture of art appreciation education of students, the second point is the analysis of the status of high school art appreciation course, the third point of the new curriculum proposed for the high school of art appreciation education principles and requirements. And concluded that:the new art education is no longer confined to the creative arts, but want to include a wide range of viewpoints works of art, discussion, analysis, appreciation, and thus to improve the students’ aesthetic ability.The third part of the contents of iconology in art appreciation course in high school and explore. In iconology theoretical perspectives to analyze and then explore how to use the analysis of the image to learn ways to strengthen students’ understanding of the work. Contact the three cases analyzed, guide students to deepen the understanding and application of the method of images.The fourth part is the image use to analyze the role and significance in the high school art appreciation course. Analytical methods, use of iconography in high school art appreciation can help to enhance students’ visual cognition and thinking, to explore the deeper meaning of digging behind the image surface, in-depth peek moral of the work implied by the depths of philosophy, sociology, political and cultural phenomenon. Enable students to understand the reason of the real creative artists, thus enhancing the ability of art appreciation. Finally, for teachers should be noted that in the process of classroom practice and teacher expectations and suggestions to make a simple statement, in order to provide as a reference to the vast number of art educators.
