At present, the earth is the only living planet that human beings know. Theenvironment of it is the basis for people to live in. However, more and more facts prove thatthe deterioration of the environment has brought serious disasters to human life. Therefore,how to protect our environment to realize the sustainable development of society is a problemthat everyone on the earth should think about seriously. Now the middle school students willbe the pillars of the 21st Century. Only by improving their environmental literacy, can weleave a wonderful world to our descendants.According to relevant theories of pedagogy, psychology and modern education,cognitive law of development of middle school students and the biology classroom teaching,this article makes full use of the local environmental resources of the Yellow River delta. Thearticle aims to improve the environmental literacy of middle school students, awaken theirenvironmental awareness and standardize their behavior to the environment through manykinds of ways, such as visit, travel, investigation, etc. Only in this way, I think, can weprotect our planet.This article is divided into four parts:The first part is the introduction. From several angles, for instance, human survival anddevelopment, the new curriculum reform, the Yellow River delta regional development andstudents’ environmental literacy, this part asks questions, summarizes research presentsituation. It also preliminarily defines related concepts of environmental literacy andenvironmental education and points out the goal, the significance, the innovation and thetechniques of the research.The second part points out the relevant theories of psychology which is the basis ofcultivating students’environment accomplishment, such as cognitive psychology,behaviorism psychology etc., and modern education theory basis, such as socialist educationtheory, humanist education theory, etc.The third part analyzes the natural resources, the climate and ecology characteristics ofthe Yellow River delta. Then it elaborates the methods and the ways of cultivating the environmental literacy of middle school students, such as, digging deeply the environmentalprotection source material in biological materials, finding out the bonding point of biologicalknowledge and the environmental education, carrying on environmental education in theclassroom instruction. Besides, it also provides environmental education through richextracurricular activities, such as the investigation of the countryside pit pond water and thewater quality, ecological travel to wetland nature reserves in the Yellow River delta etc.In the fourth part, the reliability of this research has been proved by the implementationof the experiment, the preparation of the questionnaires and the investigation methods. Thispart analyzes the investigation results and also gives suggestion on how to cultivate student’senvironment accomplishment in the biology teaching.
