The Research On The History Of Library And Museum Science Department In Southwest Teachers College

In the early years of founding New China, all neglected matters are yet to be dealt with in Library and Museum Science education. In the end of 1951, for cultivate the cadres, Southwest Culture and Education Ministry decided to establish a Library and Museum Science Department in Southwest Teachers College. Library and Museum Science Department in Southwest Teachers College (hereafter abbreviated as LMSTC) was one of three library science education units with the Boone Library School and the Peking University library science department in the early years of founding. Its’found was very advanced and forward-looking at the time. This paper makes a comprehensive review and summary about LMSTC to a useful complement to the Chinese Library Science education.This paper consists of three parts:the foreword, the main body and the conclusion.The foreword embodies the topic selection, research routs, research and the approaches of study.The main body is divided into six parts.The first section comprehensively introduces the background of the founder of LMSTC. The second section analyses of the reasons of LMSTC founder and close. The third section reviews the main activities of running LMSNS. It includes enrollment plan, start-up funding issues, curriculum setting, teaching materials, teaching equipment, teaching summary, visit the internships, student treatment, and the closure of matters. The fourth section introduces the teachers of LMSNS. The fifth section introduces the graduates of LMSTC, including of the graduates roster, work distribution, and the results of the work after graduation. The sixth section evaluates the running activities of LMSTC.The last part of the paper is the conclusion.
