The paper briefly introduces some basic conditions of the changes inexpenditure on education of our residents, emphases on the factor that bring aboutthese changes.According to the analysis of this paper, the changes in family educationexpenditure mainly focus on the changes of investment subject, the significant incomediscrepancies etc. Key factors that cause these changes are the changes of people’sincome and the price of commodity and the changes in education level and expenditurestructure of the education receiver. The family education expenditure refers to thetotal cost including the labor and payment pay by the whole family in exchange ofeducational services to satisfy the educational demand of family members. The familyeducation expenditure includes education, culture and recreation etc. Recently, with thedevelopment of our economy, great progress was also made in the income of urban andrural residents of our country, and the per capita educational expenditure graduallyincreased as well. Educational investment combines the properties of being productiveand consumptive, therefore education can be regarded as both investment andconsumption. Educational investment and consumption being make up the relationshipof dialectical unity in the process of education.Chapter one mainly expounds the background and significance of the analysis offamily education expenditure, enumerating the importance of education and thecharacteristics of being both productive and consumptive of education proposed byseveral eastern and western scholars. On the basis of predecessors’theory, this thesisintended to make systematical explanation on it, forming the socialism familyeducation expenditure theory with Chinese characteristics.Chapter two aims to make a brief introduction of the family educationexpenditure, elaborates on the definition of family education expenditure theory and itscontent and meaning. Chapter three gives a systematic enumerate and analysis of the theory on thedevelopment of education raised by Marxist classical writers, elaborating the profoundtheoretical foundation which constructs the family education expenditure theory ingeneral. Under the guidance of Marxist educational expenditure theory, the socialismfamily education expenditure theory with Chinese characteristics took its own shape.Chapter four deals with status in quo of the family education expenditure,analyzing problems exist in the family education expenditure from the perspective ofconsumer’s motivation and psychology, consuming public and the feature ofcompetition. The problems are following: the continuous grow of the family educationexpenditure, the imbalance exists in the family education expenditure and theconsumer’s aimlessness in spending for family education. We should solve theseproblems, in order to establish a harmonious condition for socialism educationalexpenditure.Chapter five is concerned with measures and suggestions to improve the familyeducation expenditure. After the systematic analysis of the problem raised before, theauthor proposed her own idea in how to improve the expenditure on education. Shebelieves that we should tackle the problem from several factors such as optimizingpolitical orientation of the expenditure on education, guiding every family to spendrationally on education through changing social environment, improving the allocationof income, increasing the expenditure on education and changing education concept ofthe family education consumer.
