Nowadays students shall get all-round development of moral, intellectual, physics, aesthetics and laboreducation and foster the capability of life-long education, which is the request of quality education highlyadvocated in society. The development of high school freshmen’s chemistry intelligence lies not only in theconsolidation of rudiments and improvement of basic chemical skills, but also in fostering the chemistrylearning interest included in non-intelligent factors. To cultivate students’ capability of overall developmentand life-long education is to foster students’ learning interest In the traditional practical class teaching, however, more attention is attached to instilling knowledge than cultivating interest in learning chemistry, which is definitely a defect in chemistry education in senior high school, leading to the disappointing factthat many high school freshmen lose interest in learning chemistry at the very beginning. It is the objectives of chemistry curriculum reform of high school that teachers shall enhance students’understanding and mastery of chemistry knowledge, strengthen students’ awareness of innovation andcreation, improve teaching quality through cultivating their interest in learning chemistry, which canmotivate students to devote themselves fully to learning basic chemistry knowledge and developing basicskills. In this thesis, the necessity and urgency of cultivating fresh high school students’ interest in learningchemistry will be firstly illustrated arranging from students’ overall development, school’s development, educational major policies and practical problems existing in chemistry teaching. Then comes the thoroughtheoretical exploration, involving a multitude of theories of education and psychology concerning learninginterest such as psychological characteristics of high school freshmen, theory of constructivism, Maslow’shierarchy of needs, and relationship between internal and external causes. The research design will beanalyzed detailedly in seven perspectives of research aims, research object, research framework, researchhypotheses, survey tools, research methods and implementation flow. Besides, the author has designed andgiven out questionnaires on learning interest in chemistry among high school freshmen, making a survey ofa series of factors which affect those students’ learning interest in chemistry. Later, the deep relationshipamong these factors concerning learning interest in chemistry has been dug out. Therefore, on the basis of findings in questionnaire survey, practical working experience as well as principles of fostering students’learning interest, the author draws a conclusion of strategies of stimulating and cultivating fresh students’learning interest in chemistry in senior high school.According to the research, fresh students have shown interest in learning chemistry differently anddisappointingly at present. Many factors will have impacts on cultivation of students’ interest in learningchemistry, such as individual background, examination results, learning motivation, classroom teachingmodels and mental stress in examination.Naturally, combining with relevant references and practical teaching experience, the author comes outwith the very principles of stimulating fresh students’ interest in learning chemistry in senior high school asfollows:1.Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude,2. Appreciation education,3.Cultivatinginterest step by step,4.Collective education,5.Coping with teaching materials flexibly. What’s more, theauthor further works out six concrete strategies to stimulate fresh students’ interest in learningchemistry.e.i.1.Offering self-confidence education to help students learn chemistry with full confidence;2.Establishing harmonious relationship between teachers and students to offer students a harmoniousatmosphere to learn chemistry in;3.Life-oriented chemistry teaching to display practical value ofchemistry;4.Making full use of chemistry experiments to render chemistry class more interesting;5.Innovating classroom teaching models to improve efficiency of the class;6.Assigning period workreasonably to meet various needs of students of different levels, all aimed to stimulate and cultivate freshstudents’ interest in learning chemistry.
