Guangxi Zhuang Dragon Boat Culture Studies

Guangxi Zhuang’s dragon boat race has a very long history, which wascommonly referred to as rowing dragon boat and dragon-boat racing. It is afavorite traditional sporting events of Zhuang people, which has rich culturalconnotations. And it is an integral part of the Zhuang culture and Chinese culture.Based on documentary analysis, field survey, interview and logical reasoningmethod, using the theoretical knowledge of ethnology, anthropology, history,sports, science, philosophy, sociology and other disciplines, this paper gives anoverview of the origin of Zhuang people and Zhuang dragon boat, developmentcourse of Zhuang dragon boat and the characteristics of Zhuang dragon boat race.The author believes that Zhuang dragon boat originates from the social backgroundof farming culture and natural living environment of Zhuang ancestors. From theperspective of cultural studies, it conducts analysis and research on social values,ecological and cultural factors, development strategy of Guangxi Zhuang dragonboat culture.This paper thinks that Guangxi Zhuang dragon boat culture has various values,such as patriotic educational value, cultural heritage value, fitness andentertainment value, social, economic value and enhancing national unity value.Under the guidance of the government, Guangxi Zhuang dragon boat sportspresent competitive and popularization development trends, which is conducive tostimulating investment and consumption strength, promoting tourism andeconomic development, enhancing the implementation of the National FitnessProgram, contributing to the prosperity of the national culture. The author proposesthat government should improve and establish the scientific and rational policy toprotect the survival and development of Zhuang dragon boat culture, to establishcultural education and innovation training base for Zhuang dragon boat race, henceto promote the dragon boat popularization development. Elite development andinnovation should be carried out and vigorously to develop the Zhuang dragon boatcultural industries, making full use of regional organizations to implement Zhuangdragon boat cultural strategy. Under the concept of environmental protection, energy conservation, Earthprotection and sustainable development, the author suggests that Guangxi Zhuangdragon boat race should carry on its primitive worship on nature gods, but alsoshould bring forth new ideas as human live in harmony with name.
