Sports English curriculum of postgraduates in college is the extension and development ofcollege English, and is the important guarantee of postgraduates’ English learning andcontinuous line. So, postgraduates’ Sports English will not only help them consolidate the basicEnglish knowledge they has learned, but to some extent, can also improve the practicalapplication of English.This paper used the methods of literature study, questionnaire and mathematical statistics,logic analysis to investigate and analyze the present situation of postgraduates’ sports Englishcurriculum of Shandong universities. The conclusions are stated as follows:First, half universities’ postgraduates are not offered this course, to which reflects thiscourse has not been paid enough attention. But most teachers and students of PE department inthese colleges agree to open it, even though they that it has too many influencing factors.Second, those colleges which have been open this course are in a phase of opening.Students’ English foundation is bad and belongs to different levels; lack strong interest inlearning English and effective learning strategies; learning effects are poor and so on. All theseare important factors to influence the open quality of this course.Third, Sports English is lack of difficulty of teaching materials and professionalcharacteristic syllabus.Fourth, teachers of this course are weak in knowledge, and their teaching level shouldimprove further.Fifth, less sports English class time, single teaching mode, old methods and lack of sportsprofessional characteristics influence the teaching quality and effect.Sixth, sports English’ evaluation method is old, single and its process is not norm.According to the following survey results, this paper argues that the open work ofpostgraduates’ sports English in Shandong universities can adopt the following measures:First, leaders of colleges’ PE department should give enough attention to this course, andare full of confidence about it. Those colleges that are not open this course should try to createconditions and combine with the needs of society and students to open it.Second, According to the practical English level of postgraduates, teachers can take layersteaching to aptitude different students’ need. And they should organize different Englishextracurricular activities to improve the learning interest of the students.Third, revise and perfect teaching outline, and select moderate but popular teachingmaterials.Fourth, select scientific teaching content, and strengthen teachers’ training.Fifth, increase sports English’ lesson numbers, make full use of the Internet, radio, television and other modern teaching means to strengthen its practicability and interesting ofsports English’ teaching contents.Sixth, establish diversity teaching evaluation system, and fully evaluate the learning effectof students.
