| As the basic academic organizational structure of universities,departments undertake functions of teaching,scientific research,service,and inheritance.The structure of a department determines the functions it undertakes.Whether department settings are scientific and reasonable will greatly affect the structural optimization and connotation development of the university itself.This research defines the related concepts of local comprehensive universities,and department settings by using literature research methods,and comparative research methods.It makes a comparative study on the department settings of four categories of local comprehensive universities in Shandong Province,and compares and analyzes that of American state universities.The thesis conducts research based on management scope,scope economy and knowledge innovation group theory,and takes four categories of eight local comprehensive universities under the classification and assessment policy of Shandong Province as examples to study the current situation of the department settings of local comprehensive universities.The author analyzes the core elements that influence the department settings of local comprehensive universities from three aspects: historical and political,university itself and market demand.Comparing with the experience of department settings in American state universities,the research analyzes the problems of the department settings of China’s local comprehensive universities by using statistical analysis methods from multiple angles and levels:excessive department settings;less inclusiveness and integration of disciplines;lack of discipline features.On the above problems,the research putting forward suggestions on the optimization of the department settings of local comprehensive universities in Shandong Province:reducing the number of departments,expanding the caliber of departments,improving the level of materialization,enhancing characteristic discipline construction and so on. |
