The surface phenomenon that postgraduates’employment situation can not be completely satisfied makes an argument which preaches "obtaining a postgraduate degree is of no use" widely reported at present. For graduates’difficulty of getting job opportunities, academia often describes it from the problem perspective, looking for causes and countermeasures, which tend to be one-sided. This paper is based on human capital, social capital and cultural capital. According to the characteristics of Shandong Province and the actual situation of postgraduate education, this study choose the following as indexes:the objective employment rate, employment orientation, job status and subjective individual cognition, career ideal, social capital, employment quality, the pressure of employment, employment assistance, and job satisfaction. Using sociology questionnaires, interviews, document analysis, comparative research methods, it also investigates eight universities, two sessions of master graduates’employment status, and analyzes the Shandong master graduates’ employment advantage and inferior position in depth.On the basis of these, the author summarizes the current impact of Shandong master graduate employment from three factors. The first is our country’s macroscopic factor that includes the social policy and economic status, the enrollment expansion of graduate students, the mass media’s influence on employment. It is followed by the second factor—characteristics of Shandong province, such as culture effects on graduates’ employment psychology and behavior, the emphasis of Shandong economic and social development, the difference of various universities in Shandong. The employers’standards on Shandong graduates also have great effect. The third is graduates’ career orientation and self cognition, individual capital content etc. These individual factors influence employment outcomes greatly.Aiming at employment influencing factors, this paper puts forward several feasible suggestions—at the macro level, to reduce social barriers to employment, to ensure that a graduate has reasonable flow and fair competition right, to control postgraduate enrollment scale properly, to reform the training mode, to improve the quality of elite education, to reinforce the role of media, and to provide the correct guidance of public opinion for graduates’ employment. At the meso level, the first is to upgrade Shandong industrial structure in order to create more employment opportunities for graduate students. Secondly, build Shandong into the economic and cultural province, attracting talents and retain talents. Thirdly, universities should be improved to cultivate better graduates. Lastly, regulate talent configuration standards in market, so that students can develop their talents. Micro individual level recommendations are for graduate students. They should correct their employment psychology, promote their integrated quality, strengthen the development of consciousness, develop and make full use of employment resources. At the end of the paper, it is pointed out that Shandong graduate employment situation is in a good state. As long as the society provides essential conditions with the joint efforts, this condition can be maintained and get further improvement. This result, in the early realization of "constructing an economic and cultural province" and the country’s "12th Five-Year plan", has great significance.
