| In recent years,information technology has developed rapidly and M-learning is becoming increasingly,which to a certain degree,affecting and changing the traditional teaching.In China,more researchers have paid much attention to M-learning in education.This study tries to solve the following research questions:(1)Is the APP-assisted teaching more effective than the one without the use of the APP in improving students’ English spoken proficiency?(2)What are the students’ attitudes towards the APP?In order to answer the above questions,the study implemented an experiment based on constructivist theories and scaffolding theory in 2 classes taught by the author in Tanglai Middle School in Yinchuan.This experiment lasted for 3 months,with 102 participants who were taking the third-year junior English course.One of the two classes was designed as the experimental class(EC)including 50 students while the other as the control one CC including 52 students.The EC received the systematic teaching with Oral English 100.On the contrast,the CC received the same teaching except using Oral English 100.The author analyzed the data through the tests,questionnaires,interviews and teaching journal and came to the conclusions:(1)APP-assisted teaching is more effective than that without the use of the APP in improving the students’ English spoken proficiency.(2)Students prefer to use Oral English 100 and it raises the their interests.With the conclusions,the author reveals the implications as follows: Firstly,it is necessary to raise English teachers’ awareness of using APP in Junior High School.M-learning,App-assisted teaching and learning have been widely accepted by the students and they prefer to learn through the new way making EFL teaching more effective and interesting than the traditional way.However,APP-assisted teaching does not attract much attention of the junior high school English teachers.Therefore,English teachers in Junior High School should raise their awareness of using APP and learn useful and necessary strategies in applying APP.Secondly,both teachers and parents should supervise the students more because most of the students may focus on the learning through APP while using the devices instead of using APP to practice their spoken English. |
