The new curriculum reform puts forward new requirements to middle schoolEnglish teaching ideas, aims and methods. The new requirements demand Englishteacher introduces new idea into teaching procedure so as to help students changemonotonous learning mode and encourage them to learn actively. By teaching in suchway, students’ cognitive ability and emotional awareness could get development in anall-around way.As the advanced product of modern educational technology-----Computer AssistedLanguage Learning has been widely spread in the middle school English teaching andhas become one of the most important teaching methods. Computer Assisted LanguageLearning with its vivid display way and real language environment, optimize the foreignlanguage teaching resources and offer students open learning room, which improve thestudents’ learning efficiency and the teaching effect. This thesis, based on the newcurriculum standard, describes the definition and characteristics of Computer AssistedLanguage Learning in detail, provides an overview of the development of ComputerAssisted Language Learning both at home and abroad. Besides, this thesis takes theEnglish teachers and high school students in Chongqing NO.8Middle School as thesurvey object to make a survey of the application to Computer Assisted LanguageLearning in middle school English teaching.By surveying the application of Computer Assisted Language Learning to middleschool English teaching, this thesis, based on the behaviorism, cognitivism andconstructivism, verifies some existing problems in English teaching: the multimediateaching design, the views of teachers and students towards Computer AssistedLanguage Learning, the advantages of Computer Assisted Language Learning comparedto the traditional teaching. According to these existing problems, the author putsforward corresponding solutions which make Computer Assisted Language Learningget reasonable application and develop its advantages in maximum in English teaching. When the Computer Assisted Language Learning help students’ to improve theirlanguage skills and develop their intercultural communicative awareness, encouragingstudents to actively participate in teaching practice, to improve teaching quality andachieve excellent teaching results.
