Regional martial arts is an excellent representative of traditional Chinese culture and avaluable resource in the Chinese martial arts culture. But its inheritance is restricted by regionand show the characteristic of vulnerability and succession, the survival and the space fordevelopment of the regional martial arts in modern society were seriously damaged. Regionalmartial arts inherent spontaneity of the living condition is very difficult to maintain. Thedevelopment of Regional martial arts should get widespread concern in society,as it was theproduct of cultural communication and national assimilation during the long history of theChinese nations development process and a cultural form of carrying a wealth of meaning andattribution of the different regional martial arts.In the cultural environment of globalization,local governments base on the local martial arts and cultural characteristics, developingcultural policies to make selective guidance and restraint on the development of regionalmartial arts, which is a popular choice to promote the development of regional martial arts.This text uses literature study, expert interviews, case analysis and other research methods andthe knowledge of the culture, sociology, economics and other disciplines, starting from thebasic concept of cultural policy and regional martial arts to expound the following aspects.First, expound the significance and elaborate the research dynamic of regional martial arts andcultural policy.Second, interpret the background of cultural politics at home and abroad,having a basic understanding of the cultural policy. Analyzing the formation of regionalmartial arts, the characteristics of it and the succession of it as well as the development ofregional martial arts, combine with the success examples of the development the Shaolinmartial arts and Wudang kung fu to explore the necessity of the development of regionalmartial arts and local cultural policies. Finally, put forward the thinking and suggestion on thedevelopment of local cultural policy and regional martial arts.The main point of this study: local cultural policy serves for the development of local cultural,the heritage and development of regional martial arts culture get the guidance and constraintsof the local culture policy, while the development of regional martial arts promote thedevelopment of the local culture and enhance the region’s cultural image. Both have themutual promotion and complementary relationship. According to local economic conditions, customs, characteristics of regional martial arts, local governments can develop some targetedlocal cultural policies to promote regional martial arts and cultural development, in order toachieve the sound development of local development and regional martial arts win-winsituation. This study is based on the guidance of the local cultural policy and reality,combined with local cultural policy and regional martial arts to the mutual promotion andcommon development successful stories. Study the cultural heritage and development of theregional martial arts, which is also the perspective of the innovation in this research.
