Music education is one of the essential contents of Pre-school education. Music education for children is able to develop their social cognition, musical perception, happy experience in joining musical activities and practical ability in communication and cooperation. This paper adopts pedagogy practice as the research method, studied the feasibility, methodology and effect of multi-part singing activities by children aged5to6in kindergarten. It also explored how to teach the children to vocalize naturally, to capture the pitch and rhythm and to feel, love and learn music in the multi-part singing activities.This research takes53children aged5to6joining multi-part singing activities in East China Normal University affiliated kindergarten during July to November,2011. The author designed three musical theme activities:1."Little clock",2."DuDuDu",3."Traffic lights". Each activity contains5to6activity lessons step-by-step according to its purpose. The author organized17musical activity lessons,34school hours in sum.The author recorded the entire process of the multi-part singing activities, observed the immediate response of the children and interviewed the teaching situation of kindergarten teachers. During the process, the author improved the contents of the musical activities which are not suitable for the children. The children’s vocalization, rhythm training and the effects of the multi-part singing activities are analyzed systematically. The teaching approach, effect and feasibility of multi-part singing activity are explored and studied carefully.The author summarized the approach of teaching in the following aspects:breath of singing, vocalization practice, cognition of the structure of the songs in multi-part singing activities, learning of music elements, sentiment of rhythm, training of intonation, singing of Canon, forming of musical hearing, musical game activity, playing percussion instruments and cognition of social knowledge.
