After a hundred year of development, creative research generated abundant results about how conceptual combination and abstraction can facilitate creative ideas of human beings. After reviewing amount of studies, we will apply those two concepts of creativity studies into practice among middle school students with the hope of promoting their creativity in their daily writing. Aiming to have support theories with empirical evidence and conceptual approach for practice, this is an innovative attempt in terms of integration of practice and theory to merge conceptual combination and abstraction into facilitating students’ideation of writing. In this study, two experiments are designed to apply conceptual combination and abstraction process to the writing lesson of middle school students. In the experiment of conceptual combination, the students are asked to generate the conceptions about the topic, then asked to combine the conceptions generated before, and finally complete the writing task with guidance. In the experiment of abstraction, we introduced sample imitation, which is one of traditional methods in teaching writing, since we consider the abstraction coexists to concrete samples. In the experiment operation the abstraction that is defined includes elements of syntax, thinking and summary of rules. With the analyzed data from consensual assessment technology, we found that:(1) Conceptual combination can promote the originate and creativity of students’ writing, but have no effect on the quality;(2) The conceptual generation alone is not good for imagination of student’ writing, impair the creativity performance of students’ writing;(3) Asking the students to apply abstraction process can inspire their creativity of writing, sample imitation have no effect on creativity of writing;(4) Mental operation of abstraction have different effect on male and female, compared with female it is easier to inspire male’s creativity of writing.
