An Investigation Into The Sound Of The Past Through The Identity Construction Of The Migrants Rushing To The Northeast

This paper concerns "past" and "present" condition of individual, and the issue between individual-national relations based on the oral narrative of "historical person concerned", although the issue in the field of social research is not occasionally mentioned in China. This paper attempts to discuss the understanding and identity construction of the migrants rushing to the Northeast, and the comparison between "aimlessly drifting population" in social main stream and migrants themselves, and also the identies reflecting what kinds of requirements through the account of migrants’oral narrative at the J Street, F town in Jilin Province. The efforts of all research and investigation tend to the same goal:let the majority of voiceless migrants in the mainstream context to have their own voices.On a basis of field investigation, this article tries to point out that throughout the history of rushing to the Northeast of China, the first generation of the migrants rushed to the Northeast passed a kind of special memory down to those who are concerned, and the special memory is mainly formed by three themes. On the basis of three themes, as well as the conclusion and reflection of the experience of rushing to the Northeast made by the migrants, their "living" concept, which centers on enduring sufferings and hardships, diligence, and honesty, of the generation of rushing to the Northeast has been refined and sublimated, which generates the group consciousness of the migrants who rushing to the Northeast and make the construction of the migrants status possible. According to the theme of collective memory of rushing to the Northeast, as well as the development of social and historical characteristics, the migrants rushing to the Northeast present ideas orally, be apt to portray themselves as "national suffering people","Northeast social builders","family life pioneers". The three identities reflect willingness of the migrants rushing to the Northeast want to legitimize their identity, consequently, the verbal memory has realized a dialogue between the migrants and history and also the conversation between the bottom of society and country.In conclusion, during the conversation of "historical person concerned" and history, this paper explores the interactive relation between individual and nation on the lost and recover of their legal status, before and after the events. So as to grasp the social motivation mechanism behind the identity construction of migrants rushing to the northeast.
