There is a natural relationship between curriculum reform and the culture. The developmental history of curriculum, is a history of conflicted and intertwined in old and new culture, declining of the old culture, and constantly creating the history of a new culture. Cultural researched in curriculum reform and the form of curriculum culture consciousness tried actively, not only have significant academic value, but also have important practical significance of the new era of China’s foundational education curriculum reform. The present study, including cultural awareness and curriculum reform, reflection of the curriculum reform culture conscious, and the path of curriculum reform cultural awareness, in the purpose of constructing a theory of curriculum reform with the theory of cultural awareness, reveals the discipline of curriculum reform cultural consciousness, and enriches the basic knowledge of curriculum, valuing and directing to the current curriculum reform in China.The thesis has four parts as following:The first part put forward the notion of the cultural awareness of curriculum reform through the relationship between culture and curriculum reform. Then, it proposes the necessity of this research on cultural awareness of curriculum reform based on the analysis of related research at home and abroad. Also, it clears significance and methods of this research.The second part discusses the origin, definition, content, methodology and meaning of cultural awareness. For the purpose of providing ideological support of its reflection, it discourses upon the concept, character and implication of the cultural awareness of curriculum reform.The third part refects curriculum reform from the angle of cultural awareness through the combination of the problems in the new round of curriculum reform in the early twenty-first century. It presents the lack of cultural awareness of curriculum reform from three aspects:usage of curriculum reform theory from abroad, learning from foreign curriculum reform experiences and the situation of teacher’s preparation. Then, it analyzes the reason for the lack of cultural awareness of curriculum reform.The forth part offers methodological support of telling us how to move towards on cultural awareness. It mainly starts on the discussion of the root of traditional culture,understanding of outland culture and innovation of local curriculum reform.
