Slow Learners(SL) are those students who have difficulties in learning. It is a bigproblem in basic education. Among SL, those who have difficulties in learningmathematics occupy the largest portion.As a professional school mathematics teacher,the author faced much larger number of students with learning difficulties inmathematics.How to help them overcome barriers to learning mathematics is the mostdifficult problem in vocational education research.So it has far-reaching significanceand impact for our country and society to improve our slow learners.Against the status quo that most of the vocational school students have difficultyin mathematics learning, the author studied the reason why secondary vocationalschool students have difficulties in math learning and the solutions, referring to thedomestic and foreign experts’ discourses. This text is based on a series of in-classobservations, questionnaires and individual case studies. It focuses both on thesubjective factors (lack of motivation, lack of interest, emotional barrier, lack ofdetermination) and objective factors (teaching material, family, major, teacher). Itanalyzes the learning problems in mathematics from three different angles: student,teaching material and social background, in order to seek the solutions.This text presents some achievable solutions which are practical and applicableto solve the mathematics learning disorder of vocational school students.
