With the rapid development of social economy and the continuous improvement of modernization, the pace of urbanization has been significantly accelerated and its scale has been constantly expanded after reform and opening up. In order to meet the needs of urbanization, more and more Peri-urban land has been taken and a large number of famers in suburban areas have turned into landless peasants. The citizenization of peasants is an inevitable result of modernization and urbanization; it is also the problem of promoting the modernization faced by any country in the world. The complete citizenization not only includes the formal change of household registration and living space, but also the change of lifestyle and ideological, which is more important. In the western developed countries, there was opposition between urban and rural areas in the process of transferring rural surplus labor and the citizenization of peasants, too. But because the industrialization and urbanization of the western countries is almost complete synchronization, so the transformation of citizenization of peasants is successful. In our country, the development of industrialization and urbanization is out of touch, plus the partition of the dual urban-rural social structure and many other factors, peasants still walk the public road slowly and difficultly. And it seriously lags behind in economic and social development. This triggers a series of conflicts and problems, and affects the construction of a harmonious socialist society. Therefore, the research of citizenization of peasants helps to further promote China’s urbanization, economic and social development, and maintain social stability. This paper firstly includes the background, significance and research methods, affirming the necessity of peasants’citizenization; then, make a comparative analysis of core connotation of the peasant, the resident and the citizenization of peasants. The second part is mainly an overview of the foreign research dynamics and domestic research on the theory of the citizenization of peasants. Through the first two parts, after clearly raising the question of peasants’citizenization, the third part of this article introduces geographical location, demographic profile and the economic level of the selected study area. Then the paper describes this region’s urbanization status and the course of peasants’ citizenization. Chapter Four, the focal points of this thesis, elaborates urbanized rural residents in five areas of the present situation of the citizenization, including habit of life, patterns of consumption, methods of communication, patterns of leisure and value concepts. The Sixth part, on the basis of comprehensive full-text, analyzes the citizenization from a cultural perspective, and points out the shortcomings in the study.
