Farmers’citizenization is the inevitable product of urbanization, and it is also the objective requirement of the modernization development. In order to meet the needs of the development of urbanization and the expansion of urban space, the government expropriated suburban farmers’survival land, and centrally placed landless peasants in suburban new communities. The community adaptation and citizenization of suburban landless peasants is an important research theme of urbanization. The community adaptation and citizenization of suburban landless peasants is a gradual process. The study found that even experienced urban community life for more than a decade, suburban landless peasants may not complete the task of citizenization. Transformations in economic level and living level are relatively easy for suburban landless peasants, while adaptations and integrations in social level, cultural level and psychological level still require long-term efforts. Farmers’ citizenization cannot be completed easily by implementing a simple policy of "land for security". So we cannot unilaterally define "the end of peasants" according to conversions of household registration and occupation.Citizenization of landless peasants is a complex system engineering and a long-standing theme during the period of social transformation. Suburban landless peasants have got some progress in all aspects of civilization, and they have been uniform with citizens in some aspects. However, because of the lack and constraint of citizenization’s internal and external conditions, there are still some obstacles in their progress of community adaptation and citizenization. Promoting the community adaptation and citizenization of suburban landless peasants is a process requiring positive interaction and coordinated construction among government, community, citizens and landless peasants. As long as all aspects work together to pave the way for farmers’citizenization, suburban landless peasants will eventually be able to adapt to the community life and become veritable citizens.
