| The Advanced Placement Program (AP) originated in the1950s. After nearly60years of development, it has been spread out in the United States and is recognized by the famous universities all around the world. AP Calculus AB and BC are important components of AP, which not only improve mathematics for the students who has the ability to learn more, but also effectively mitigate the interface between mathematics courses in high school and in college. In this context, this paper aims at finding some worthwhile places and bringing out the thought about mathematical education in China through research of AP and AP Calculus.This paper main focus on three aspects:(1)To introduce AP operation system.(2)To introduces course target, syllabus and test questions’characteristics of AP calculus.(3)To summary features of AP calculus, to provide reference for the current basic education reform, especially for mathematics education reform.After the study we concluded that:1.Each AP courses are made and audited by the committee, AP exam preparation, reading and score has university professors’participation, all of those make the whole scientific and effective AP. AP get government support, let each student to enjoy education resources of equality.2.In some poor areas, increasing number of AP courses reduce the quality of AP. Although AP implement many fair measures, some ethnic minority students aren’t fair for taking AP courses.Thus, we can get some revelation for basic education reform and mathematics education reform in china.1.In curriculum aspects:Teacher should understand each stage of mathematics curriculum, strengthen course relation between high schools and colleges; Keeping on setting and implementing mathematics elective course; Conforming the international trend, to develop AP mathematics course in more areas.2.In teaching aspects:Mathematics classroom teaching should take students as the master of classroom and play the role of the teacher’s leading; Mathematics classroom teaching should add some history of mathematics; Modern education technology should be used in mathematics classroom teaching.3.In evaluation aspects:Mathematics questions should be closely related to student’s real life; Mathematics can test the ability of using modern science and technology. |
