Calculus is an important branch of mathematics,and it plays a decisive role in the development of mathematical theory and mathematical thoughts.With the development of the middle school mathematics curriculum reform,mathematics thoughts in calculus and some basic calculus knowledge have been introduced into the middle school mathematics teaching material,which is conducive to the development of adolescent thinking and lay the foundation for advanced mathematics learning.Therefore,it is very necessary to introduce the calculus into middle school mathematics.This paper focuses on the application of calculus in high school mathematics and consists of four parts.The opening chapter introduces the origin and development of calculus,and the significance of the research.The second part expounds mathematical thoughts and method that calculus contains and how to permeate the mathematics thoughts in calculus teaching.Chapter third and four are the core part of the paper.Based on the newly revised mathematics teaching syllabus for full-time senior high school,the author analyzes detailedly the concept and geometric meaning of derivatives,solving function monotonicity,and extreme value etc.In addition,the author gives specific application of the definite integral in terms of geometry,and gives the formula of area of curved edge graph and arc length.The last part analyzes all aspects of the situation when students are learning calculus.According to the survey results,the reasonable and effective suggestions on teachers' teaching in calculus is proposed.
