Of all the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, writing is considered to the one that can best embody the learners’ language proficiency and language skills use level. In English learning, the use of conjunction cohesion can well reflect the students’ language level. However, nowadays the present situation of conjunction cohesion use in senior high school is not ideal; the teacher rarely take the initiative to explore the solution of the cohesion use problems exiting in language learners’writing.Based on Hallidy and Hasan’s cohesion and coherence theory, this dissertation studied the common characteristics of conjunction cohesion use and existing problems in senior high school students’English writing by using the Compleat Lexical Tutor(www.lextutor.ca) making qualitative and quantitative analysis of74English compositions by Senior one students from a senior high school in Tianjin. The study found that, when students are writing more frequent use of some logical connectives, some logical cohesions are often used incorrectly, which leads to a single logic in a composition and a lack of consistency in writing. Therefore, this study attempts to not only conduct an analysis on the current situation of conjunction use in EFL writing but also humbly provide advices for further research on cohesion teaching in the English writing.
