It is known to all of us that language can not be separated from culture. To develop foreign language teaching, culture teaching needs our attention. Some of Senior High students with high examination scores can not communicate well with people in real conversation, which has drawn researchers’ attention. In the second half of twentieth century, culture teaching in foreign language lessons has developed a lot, with a lot of researches concerning how to conduct culture teaching, strategies and principles of culture teaching. However, there still exist problems in culture teaching in Senior High, associated with teachers’ intercultural communication ability, students’ intercultural communication awareness, students’ language level, their interests and time for culture teaching in Senior High. This thesis is intended to find the factors which affect teachers’ choice of strategies in culture teaching. The results indicated that besides students’interest, time for culture teaching in foreign language lesson is the major factor to affect teachers’ choice of strategies in culture teaching. The study has implied that more attention should be paid on culture teaching, and we can improve culture teaching through adding more culture knowledge and the training of intercultural communication ability in language class.
