Strengthening the construction of the college counselor team is a strongorganizational guarantee to strengthen the ideological and political education of thecollege students. It is of great significance in implementing the strategy of nationalrejuvenation through science and education, and ensuring the prosperity of the causeof socialism with Chinese characteristics and having qualified successors. As the mainforce of college students’ ideological and political work, counselors play a noticeablerole in the course of educating, guiding, training and shaping. The counselors’ qualitydirectly impacts on their performance,thereby affecting the students’healthy growthand comprehensive development. However, with the continuous progress anddevelopment, and the formation of diversity in social culture, new changes inbehavioral characteristics, personality psychology, ideas, values, life attitudes haverevealed on the"born-in-the-1990s"college students with distinctive features of thetimes as they currently have accessed higher education. A high degree of socialconcern has been paid on this, which, at the same time, is an opportunity and also achallenge for the ideological and political education work, hence promoting collegestudents’ ideological education work to enter a new stage of development.In the face of the "born-in-the-1990s" college students, college counselors shouldcarry out good research on the ideas and behavior characteristics of the"born-in-the-1990s" college students, to recognize the group’s characteristics anddemand characteristics of the "born-in-the-1990s" college students, and further toimprove the contents and methods of ideological education management, to improvethe ideas and models of the work of ideological education management, to get rid ofthe boring theory of preaching, to enhance their own quality, to constantly updateideas, to expand the vision of knowledge, to study new situations, to solve newproblems, to improve work methods, and to improve the work, in which ways thecollege students’ ideological education management get closer to the"born-in-the-1990s" college students, and the college counselors keep pace with thetimes, adapting themselves to the international and domestic situations, so that theycan live up to the great trust of the times, and make better contributions to China’smodernization.By the objective understanding of ideological characteristics and the analysis on growing environment of the"born-in-the-1990s" college students, the thesis provides atheoretical basis for the ideological and political education work of college students,analyzes the problems and reasons on the quality of college counselors throughcollege counselor quality research questionnaire, proposes countermeasures andeducational approaches and methods in face of the "born-in-the-1990s" collegestudents to enhance the comprehensive quality of college counselors, and provides areference for the theoretical research on college students’ ideological and politicaleducation. It also has important practical significance in further implementing thespirit of the Circular of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on furtherstrengthening and improving the ideological and political education of collegestudents, in fully implementing the Party’s educational policy with ideals and beliefsas the educational core, and in enhancing the college counselors’ quality on theappropriateness, effectiveness and scientificalness.
