The Intervention Of Social Work In Ideological And Political Education Of College Students

As reform, opening and market economy gradually goes deep, social structure in our country changed so rapidly that college ideological and political education under the new situation are confronted with new problems and challenges. Therefore, creativity for college ideological and political education is needed to meet the demand of social development and students’growth. As a subject with emphasis on application and practice, social work is consistent with "people-oriented" ideological and political education concept in our country. Added to college political education, social work will definitely benefit ideological and political education theoretically and practically and make political education more efficient.Guided by Marx basic theory, the thesis integrated use of pedagogy, sociology, social work of different subjects like relevant theoretical knowledge, to "social work in university students’ideological and political education" the subject for a preliminary discussion. This thesis consists of four parts:The first part discusses the current college political education, the status of analysis in recent years the ideological and political education achievement and challenges nowadays. The second part discusses compatibility of social work with college political education from diverse aspects, such as learners, theoretical foundations, learning target. Moreover, feasibility of applying social work in college political education was proven by practices in the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions in our country. The third part introduces value concepts in social work, such as helping, respect and equality, individualization and service. Principles, basic assumptions and core concept of strength perspective will be explored. Applying social work in college ideological and political education will further enrich and develop college ideological and political education theory. Furthermore, this paper introduces three basic working methods of social work, i.e. individual work, group work, community work. Specific application of those working methods in college ideological and political education will be discussed. Professionalism of social work will be exhibited by case study. Bold practices of social work in college ideological and political education is discussed in the fourth part, such as social work consciousness training for social workers, counseling practice for social work majored students, establishing social work stations, etc.
