Study On Social Works’ Intervention Of The Elderly Empty-Nesters In College Community Under The Strengths Perspective

The aging degree of China is aggravate, and the rapid development of empty nest has become a prominent feature of aging. The elderly empty-nesters generally have a feeling of "empty nest",what means loneliness."Out of a door lock, in of a lamp" is the true portrayal of the many elderly empty-nesters. The elderly empty-nesters is a spacial group in college community. They not only have the general characteristics of the elderly empty-nesters, but also have the difference. Most of them are retired cadres and teachers and they are senior intellectuals, who enjoy high pension and the welfare. As so far, the research about the elderly empty-nesters in college community is very limited, which mainly concentrated in the nursing and medicine aspects, though this is an very important issue. Studing how to intervene the elderly empty-nesters in college communicate from the perspective of the social work and giving the better services have also important significance.Through the investigation of the elderly empty-nesters in Huazhong University of Science and Technology community, the author used the questionnaire survey and interview methods to connect dates, revealed the elderly empty-nesters’ life condition, which including basic situation, physical health status and social interaction status, pension concept and social support status, and analysed the problems of the elderly empty-nesters in college community, which including healthy problems, spiritual consolation problems and social interaction problems. The object of the survey is over the age of60elderly empty-nesters in Huazhong University of Science and Technology community. The college community has total180elderly empty-nesters, and we granted180questionnaires, because of the physic condition and the time reasons, we recovered146valid questionnaires.I try to take the strengths perspective as the point of penetration in this paper, and through analysing the intervention cases from the social worker to the elderly empty-nesters, I put forward the roles what the social workers should pay and the skills what the social workers should note under the strengths perspective. Finally, I give the suggestions about the social workers service the elderly empty-nesters, including understanding the actual need of the old man, ming the elderly empty-nesters’ superiority resources, developing the group and community activities, integrating community resources.
