Learning motivation has always been an important research topic for educators andpsychologists. It is the middle school students’ inner learning motivation, because it restrictsstudents’ learning behaviours and is the key factor to learning quality, and it determinesstudents’ future life goals as well. A large number of studies show that, the higher learningmotivation a student has got, the higher enthusiasm he will show, and the stronger wills hewill have to overcome difficulties and to work hard towards the goal.As the backbone of the21st Century, the contemporary middle school students have toassume the heavy responsibility of building the motherland. That is all educators’responsibility. However, now the junior high school students’ show a number of badphenomena in learning mathematics, for example, light interest, low learning ability, lowgrades and weariness, etc. The junior high school students are at puberty, which is a very fastphysiological and psychological changing time, and is a foundation period of forming outlookon life and values. It is a challenging problem for them to own the lifelong learningmotivation.Because of this, I have borrowed some views from Ausubel on learning motivation fromthe cognitive drive, ego-enhancement drive and affiliated inner driving force to find threeaspects of students’ external manifestations. From the needs of interest, cognition, psychology,self-esteem, reward and punishment, I designed the questionnaire. I questioned two juniorhigh schools in Weifang Gaoxin District, interviewed14teachers in Gaoxin District andborrowed the ideas from domestic and foreign research results, from which I found out thereasons of current junior high school students’ lack in mathematics learning motivation asfollows:The superior living conditions lead to the lack of students’ learning objectives, so thecognitive drive is not strong. The students’ interest and initiative in learning mathematics arenot high. Students’ learning motivation was affected by the social impact on mathematicslearning. Students will need to strengthen and improve their willings.And from the cultivation of learning motivation, I undertook a preliminary study. I havedrawn some management strategies to improve junior high school students’ mathematics learning motivation as follows:To make up appropriate learning objectives, providing directions for learning motivation;To help with a strong will, providing the strong power for learning motivation;A variety of management strategies, to stimulate students’ learning motivation inclassroom teaching environment;Multiple evaluations, to promote the formation of students’ learning motivation.
