The New Standard of National English Curriculum holds that cultivating anddeveloping students’ autonomous learning is a great transition in terms of Englishlanguage learning and teaching.It is also an important goal to cultivate students intolifelong learners. The author mainly studies how to train students’ autonomic learningability.In this thesis,firstly, the author introduces the definition and characteristics ofautonomous learning.Then the author analyzes Shandong Dulangkou"3.3.6"autonomous learning model, pointing out its advantages and disadvantages. Then,according to the characteristics of senior high school English, the author puts forward"3.4.7" senior high school English autonomous learning model, which includes threecharacteristics, four modules and seven steps. The roles of teachers and students are alsoredefined in this model.The last part is the experimental studies of"3.4.7" autonomous learning model. Twoclasses are investigated respectively by assigning one as the experimental class and theother as the control class. The "3.4.7" autonomous learning model is implemented inexperiment class while traditional one is conducted in latter. Through the experimentaldata and result analysis, it is found that the autonomous learning ability of the studentsin experiment class is superior to those in control one. Through this training, studentscan arrange their time properly and set reasonable plans. Meanwhile, they can alsoassess themselves timely and adjust their learning strategies.Through the research, theauthor got the conclusion that the "3.4.7" autonomous learning model in the cultivationof students’ autonomous learning ability is effective. And, to some extent, can promotestudents’ English learning. This study can provide some beneficial enlightenments for English teachers insenior high school to cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability.
