As a common educational method, training is an important way of moral education, which is an incomplete one for lacking of it. But with the misunderstood connotation of training, it is out of tune with the modern educational concepts, and gradually marginalized and even ignored. In practice it degenerated into formalism extracurricular activities which lost their moral intentions. This paper attempts to elucidate the meaning of extracurricular activities from the point of view of moral education to rebuild the system of the school moral training.In the study, first I will defend that training is a moral education means in philosophy, psychology and pedagogy aspects to indicate that it is a means of education. Secondly It should be divided into civilized habit training, self-government training, team training and social training according to the moral education intention of the activities. Finally according to this framework, I will analysis the current situation of extracurricular activities of the various activities of the schools in China, and find the problem in the activities and put forward some recommendations.The study shows the schools and teachers attach importance to civilized habit training and the construction of the Communist Youth League, Young Pioneers, Student Union and Class Committee to organize collective activities, and to develop the social practice activity. But it finds that teacher regard wrongly the extracurricular activity itself as the target, overlooking the moral intentions of the activities. The teachers rarely know the moral value of the activities which carried out by the Communist Youth League, Young Pioneers, Student Union and the Class Committee and doesn’t fully realize the value of the team training of the class activities. The teachers are not good at develop the civilized habit training combining the guidance of the direction and method,and doesn’t roundly guide the social activities from the point of view of social training.The paper thinks that if we want to give full play to the moral training of the extracurricular activities, firstly we should know training is only one of the means and should be combined to teaching, management and especially guidance to achieve the aim of all-round moral education. Secondly the plan, the development and the judgment of the activities should be included in teacher’s instruction to aviod the mechanical guidance. Thirdly, it puts forward the significance of moral theory of extracurricular activities to promote the status of the extracurricular activities in education.
