The Shanghai second phase of curriculums’ textbooks reform hasbeen performed for dozens of year (since1998). Through definingcurriculum standards and curriculum experiments, it has turned into thecurriculum refine stage. The society and the educational bureau notonly focused on the effect of implementation result, but also on thedevelopment of curriculum concept. The key criterion of educationalquality is what students can acquire in their learning process. What kindof student’s abilities should be developed in curriculum becomesanother important task of curriculum reform. Impacted by the thoughtof ability oriented curriculum design, the main task of Shanghaicurriculum standards revise is to develop each curriculum’s “CoreAbilities”.Developing student’s information literacy is the whole aim ofInformation Technology curriculum for elementary school and middleschool in Shanghai. From the international and domestics facts, this aimis main stream. It is a requirement from information society. The mostcore ability of information literacy is the ability to solve problem withinformation technology, which including1) identify requirementsinformation,2) acquire information efficiently,3) evaluate informationcritically, and4) use information creatively.With international and domestics experiences, according toShanghai local situations,“Shanghai Curriculum Standards ofInformation Technology for Elementary School and Middle School”defined Information Literary is:1) understand information technologycorrectly. Learners can collect, process, transfer and expressinformation with proper information technologies. Learners have basicknowledge and skills of information technology;2) the ability of usinginformation technology to develop own idea, learning how to learn, exploring independently and solving problem by cooperating andcommunicating;3) have basic moral standard in information society,the ability of self-regulatory in the process of applying informationtechnology, and recognized his/her social responsibilities.Based on above standards, the research tried to propose concretedemonstrative standards for four dimensions of learning to learn,cooperation, self-exploration and development thought, to explainwhat the abilities of solve problem with information technologies are.How would a student perform who have those abilities? What should bedone if students in different stages want to develop such abilities?...
