The coming of the Information Age made the innovative talentswho are with fine critical thinking skill take the high ground in today’scompetitive society. It’s quite important to cultivate high schoolstudents’ critical thinking either from the need of our countries for highquality innovative talents or from students’ personal development need.Nowadays critical thinking instruction has already attracted attention ofquite a lot of scholars from home and abroad and made them involvedinto theoretical research. However in the aspect of teaching practiceof critical thinking, China has already lagged behind many developedcountries. There are still no specialized critical thinking curriculumsopened in high schools of China.SDP is a short-time skill training program aiming at the shortage ofChinese students on critical thinking, innovation, social skills and selfpresentation which is designed and promoted by CIE and CHEER. FHigh School is the very first high school that introduced SDP in Shanghaiand it had already opened this course for2years before the study wasstarted. Thus, it’s not deeply studied on the respects of running situation,existing problems and curriculum advantage. Therefore this study willplay positive significance in deeper understanding of SDP andexploration of cultivation strategies for high school students’ criticalthinking.This thesis is consisted of5chapters. Chapter1mainly states theresearch origin and purpose, relative research status, research idea andmethod. Chapter2introduces the general situation of SDP and theopening situation of SDP in High School F, makes a respectively outlineof opening distinguished features of SDP in High School F and theopening situation, existing bottlenecks, operating puzzles of SDP.Chapter3is the main part of this thesis which is the investigation result presentation and discussion and analysis of critical thinking cultivationexperiments. Firstly we present the elevation effect of students’ criticalthinking by SDP and instructional interactivity situation, and then weanalyze the effect brought by SDP teaching process to SDP teachingeffect, then find out the existing problem lain in SDP in the aspect ofcritical thinking cultivation. And conclusions were drawn like that: thepositive factors for the elevation of high school students’ critical thinkingare using teaching methods of game and interaction and groupcooperation skillfully, regularizing reasoning expressions and guiding themigration of students’ interest. While the negative factors for theelevation of high school students’ critical thinking are neglectingstudents’ characteristic, mixing individual emotions into teachingattitude, disharmony between students’ discussion and teacher’sspeech time, unscientific arrangement of teaching design, insufficiencyfor preparing lessons and monotonous teaching method, excessivemaintenance of authority and discontinuous teaching process.Chapter4is the core part which suggest some critical thinkingcultivation strategies in SDP on the basis of last chapter: payingattention to the knowledge’s generativity and respect students’individuality in the respect of conception; emphasize group work andgame and interaction, listen to and feedback to students in respect ofteaching method; be an facilitator and co-learner rather than aninstructor in the respect of teacher role, and encourage students to bebold in practice and be more confident. The last chapter is theconclusion and reflection which base on the experimental results andcritical thinking cultivation strategies and makes some instructionalsuggestions for Chinese SDP teachers: Chinese SDP teachers need toconfirm the curriculum objective, understand students’ characteristic ofstudents from different classes and of different knowledge background,improve teaching strategies, elaborate teaching methods. At the same time, they need to improve their own critical literacy and changeold-time attitude for knowledge, strengthen listening consciousness,provoke students’ critical thinking. I hope the content above can beused for reference for researchers on SDP or cultivation strategies ofhigh school students’ critical thinking.
