Listening, speaking, reading and writing are the four basic skills of language. Reading. as an important component among them, has raised great concern of experts and teachers. As for the English reading teaching in senior high school, however, traditional teaching method still leaves great impact. Most reading class remains to be teacher-centered, which make the students lose interest in reading and leads to low reading competence. As a result, they lack the desire of participating in classroom activities. In order to improve the situation, the author thinks that the top priority is to find an approach to improve reading teaching.The Education Department, therefore, declares adopting the teaching model of TBLT (Task-based Language Teaching) in English teaching in senior school on the Curriculum Reform. Some researches have already been done on the application of TBLT in reading class. Through the analysis of two particular reading classes, this paper aims to demonstrate what kinds of components, task types, principles and framework of TBLT is applied, as well as the merits and problems in the application of TBLT in English reading classes in senior high school. In this way, the author hopes to provide some theoretical and practical references for high school English reading teaching under the concept of the Curriculum Reform.
