Study On The Doctoral Dissertation Of Higher Education

In the background of the knowledge-based economy of the information society, higher education has increasingly become the core of social attention from the public. Activities of higher education itself have become increasingly important and research teams of higher education grow stronger day by day. Higher education is in the upper of the entire educational levels which is Responsible for cultivating high-level talents、 scientific research、 social responsibility and plays a very important role in our education. Ph. D, which is carefully nurtured high-level personnel, is in the top of the graduate education and the mainstay of the modernization. The doctoral dissertation of higher education is the important profit of higher education professional doctoral education and carrier in the quality of graduate education. It can reflect not only the foundation of professional knowledge of the doctoral students、scientific research ability、academic level and scientific attitude towards learning, but also to some extent, reflect the level of development of the discipline。This paper is divided into four parts. The first part is the origin of the main brief、 the literature review、 research methods、the significance and research design. The second part described the theme of professional doctorate thesis of higher education in Xiamen University to discuss the status of research topic, characteristic and problem. The third part of the paper analyzed the main research method, characteristic and problem. The fourth part is the conclusion of this study, which focused on the characteristic of higher education professional doctorate thesis in Xiamen University and obtained enlightenment。Xiamen University is the first in China to set up a higher education professional doctoral, this article is based on143doctoral thesis during1986-2010of higher education professional in Xiamen University. We analyzed its main research themes and methods of research. According to the survey results, the thesis topic is characterized by research themes closely linked with national development and reform of higher education and practice. What’s more, research topic is different from foreign higher education research topic and research themes in the process of changing maintain the relative stability. In addition, part of the dissertation research project is commissioned by the government and research topic has a certain innovation. Moreover, these doctoral thesis emphasis on higher education concept study and had a wide range of research. The problem is we neglect the research of higher education to developing countries. Research method is characterized as the following:adhere to the philosophy of Marxism as a methodology, Unity of multi-disciplinary research and interdisciplinary research, new changes in research methods, growing specification of research methods. The other problem is that the scientific rigor of individual research methods is questionable and part of the thesis research method is non-standard. The cause of the problem, On the one hand, is the lack discipline of higher education, independent of research system and have to use education research methods from other disciplines. On the other hand,is the study habits of different authors-Emphasis on research contempt research methods, and inadequate understanding of the research methods of other disciplines which Lead to the inappropriate use. The general characteristics are as follows:the increasingly regulation in research, rigorous academic research, making a lot of results, a wide research vision, a combination of theory and practice, a unity of research topics and methods. We try to reflect the situation of higher education professional doctoral students based on the professional knowledge in Xiamen University, research capability, academic standards, scientific attitude and development level of Higher Education discipline.
