As one of the important means of reading instruction, self-organization discussion puts the educational philosophy of student-orientation into effect. On the basis of readers’ reaction, autonomous learning and constructive learning theory, this study attempts to establish the ideal model featuring self-organization discussion in the reading instruction. Moreover, with the insights yielded from the excellent reading courses home and abroad, it puts forward a series of strategies and procedures based upon our Chinese elementary reading course.This study is composed of three major aspects:introduction, in-depth discussion and summary. The research background, previous studies home and abroad, research questions and methodologies are presented in the introduction part. Following this part, the first two chapters constitue the gist of the current study to explore the notions of self-organization discussion, with the basic concepts, the key elements and the ideal model include. With the insights yielded from the excellent examples of reading course home and excellent, Chapter Three presents the exact way through which self-organization discussion is conducted in the reading course, such as the specific strategies and procedures. As an illustration, the example of narrative essays instruction under the practice of self-organization discussion is demonstrated in the next chapter. The above two chapters serve as the highlight and innovation of this study, for the alternative measures and the strategies related with the discussion bear significant implications for our Chinese reading instruction. This study concludes with the research summary as well as some confusing points entailing further consideration.Self-organization discussion in the reading course focuses on the students’ reading experiences. Through peer-discussion and teacher-student discussion, the students come to form their own ideas based on self reflection upon the class discussions. During the process of reading, discussion and reflection, the students are more capable of finishing the reading task with others’concerted efforts. Self-organization discussion encompasses individual activities of self-reading and self-reflection, and the cooperative activities with others. This practice confirms the very requirement of reading course and plays an important role in improving reading methods and the quality of reading instruction; moreover, it is in the accordance with the modern educational philosophy of autonomous learning and cooperative learning, which bears great significance in promoting the students’ proficiency of learning, cooperation and communication. In all, this study is expected to expand the depth and width of the discussion over self-organization discussion, lending some fresh insights into this practice conducted in the Chinese elementary reading course.
