Fuzhou is a famous historical and cultural city stretching for more than two thousand years. It expanded continuously as the immigration of a larger quantity of Northern Chinese Hans. The three lanes and seven alleys then formed and developed during this course. The three lanes and seven alleys is one of the birthplaces of ancient Fuzhou’s culture education. Its academy culture growthed with the formation and development of the traditional street area, lasting from the late Tang Dynasty to the late Qing. And at last, it disappeared with the history going on for the change of academy system in the late Qing and the decline of the street area in modern times. However, its spiritual connotation was melted in the blood of the people in the three lanes and seven alleys. when motherland was at stake in modern times, the academy cultural spirit maked them take aggressive approaches to salvage the country and the nation. What they had done in saving China through culture promoted the development of modern education of Fujian objectively. the academy culture of The three lanes and seven alleys is deep and rich. To excavate it can help us do better in survey, reference and progress when we study in the field. And it can also serve the development of contemporary society. Today, in the phase of market conomic booming and social value diversification, the academy culture of The three lanes and seven alleys has more far-reaching significances in the growth of contemporary education in Fujian. It has rich and important inspirations to home education, school education and science education.
