A Foreign Teacher In China Up To Personality Scale Preliminary Establishment

In the context of the disorder of the foreign teachers market and no foreignselection standards and assessment tools of the foreign teacher，this research study thecompetent personality traits of the foreign teachers working in our country，developforeign teacher personality traits scale, provide tool for selecting foreign teachers.This study defined the concept of the personality, competent personality traitsand the competent personality traits of the foreign teachers, reviewed the personalitytheory, the research of developing personality traits scale and the research of thepersonality of teachers, sums up the general procedure and method of developingpersonality scale and the general personality traits of the best teachers.Then developed the competent personality characteristics scale:(1) through theinterview and questionnaire, collected the vocabulary of describing the personalitytraits of foreign teachers, and connecting with the big five personality traits, throughexpert evaluation method, chose competent personality traits of the foreign teachers,develop competent personality traits scale of foreign teachers (prediction version)(2)use competent personality traits scale for survey, adopt the method of project analysisand exploratory factor analysis, explore the scale structure, forms the competentpersonality traits scale (formal edition)(3) use competent personality traits scale(formal edition) for survey, adopt the method of confirmatory factor analysis tovalidate the scale structure. The results prove the scale fitting degree is good.Finallly inspection scale reliability and validity: reliability test is mainly toinspect the internal consistency of the scale, using Cronbach ’s alpha and split-halfreliability; The validity of the test is mainly to inspect the content validity, structuralvalidity and empirical validity.The competent personality traits scale of foreign teachers (prediction version)contains180projects, through the project analysis and exploratory factor analysis,formed competent personality traits scale (formal edition), containing76projects, the11personality characteristic: cold, hostile, self-confidence, follow the rules, anxiety,social anxiety, enthusiasm, trust others, gregariousness, the positive emotions,emotional stability. Confirmatory factor analysis proves scale fitting is good.Reliability and validity analysis shows that, scale had good reliability, content validityand structural validity, part of the personality traits have empirical validity, this studywill take those that have the empirical validity as competent personality traits, takethose that do not have the empirical validity personality as the common personalitytraits in the foreign teachers.
