For about forty years, learning strategy has been paid much attention in second language learning. The research both at home and abroad include its definition, classifications, strategies used by good language learners and the differences between successful and unsuccessful language learners in learning strategies. At the same time, researchers also discover that learning strategy use is affected by many factors. The affective factors in second language learning are also focused on by foreign language researchers. And learners’self-efficacy is one of the greatest influencing factors. Some researchers show that learners’self-efficacy also influences learning strategy use, but someone raises the idea that they do not have significant relations. This dispute needs further proofs. This thesis aims to explore the correlation between language learning strategy and self-efficacy. The subjects are high school sophomores. The research questions include the situation of sophomores’English learning strategy use and self-efficacy as well as the correlation between the two.The study investigates106high school sophomores using questionnaires, which consist of the English learning strategy questionnaire and the English learning self-efficacy questionnaire. And the former one includes cognitive strategy, regulating strategy, resource strategy and communicative strategy, and the latter includes two dimensions, learning ability and learning behavior. The collected data is analyzed by SPSS19.0, and the analysis includes descriptive statistics of situation of high school sophomores’language learning strategy use and self-efficacy, correlation and regression of the relation between language learning strategy and self-efficacy. And the results are:1. High school sophomores’English learning strategy use is at the moderate level, and the use of cognitive strategy is the most and communicative strategy is the least.2. Self-efficacy of high school sophomores’is also moderate, and the self-efficacy of the learning behavior is higher than that of the learning ability.3. Language learning strategy has positive correlation with self-efficacy.The results have theoretical significance of clarifying the former dispute and can instruct the future language teaching. Teachers should help students become independent learners by improving learning strategy use and self-efficacy.There are some limitations in this study. For example, the sample size is small, which should be improved in the future research.
