The Mathematics Curriculum Standard for Ordinary Senior Middle School was issued by the Ministry of Education in April2003. It plays an important role in defining the basic content of mathematics curriculum, in indicating direction for the new reform of mathematics curriculum in senior schools and in laying a foundation for the future mathematics instruction. As the reflection of philosophy, content and requirement of New Curriculum Standard, textbooks are imperative to be modified. Detailed understanding for the textbooks result from a complete and deep perception of the architecture of textbooks, because it is the lifeline of textbooks. By the end of2012, all the provinces in China have been on the reform of new curriculum. There are five versions of mathematics textbooks are employed nationwide at present. This changed the situation that textbooks of People’s Education Press are only choice of schools. In addition, different province can choose textbooks that best fit them, and teachers of different regions have a wider view on teaching.Set Language is the basic language of modern mathematics and Function is an important mathematical model describing the variation of objective world. They are core content of senior mathematics and are adjusted a lot in structure by different versions. So what is important is the selection of versions and how to use new versions appropriately. There is great significance for the teaching to integrate the different versions by absorbing their respective advantage.Through collecting literature, comparison and case study, this paper analyses two versions of compulsory I published by Beijing Normal University used in Shaanxi province and issued by People’s Education Press widely used in other provinces. The analysis is conducted from perspective of content, architecture, presentation and allocation of examples. The characteristic of two versions are summarized, which aims to help teachers understand them completely. At last, the author gives some suggestions on how to use new versions of textbooks in a better way.
