The motivation of learning High school political course is to maintain the intrinsic force of the students’learning behaviors. However, the division of literal arts and science in high school caused some general phenomena, such as the deviation of the direction, the decrease of the strength and the diversification of the students’learning motivation, etc. That has a direct impact on the effectiveness of the political class teaching. Although the learning objectives and tasks of the political class for liberal arts students and science students are different, the degree of the usage of moral function of the political lesson has a close relationship with the comprehensive development of all students. This requires that both the liberal arts and science students should pay sufficient attention to the particular political subject. The cultivation and stimulation of the learning motivation will not only help to improve the teaching effect and students’ academic level of the liberal arts and science students, to help promote the changes of teaching methods in political lesson, but also can help to fulfill the moral functions of the political lessons and to achieve the goal of Quality Education. The motivation factor has caused a great concern of the experts and scholars, but the researches on specific ideological and political discipline facing with the different arts and sciences students is very few. Therefore, it highlights the significance of the study on the liberal arts and science students’learning motivation in political courses.This paper first analyzed the background and significance of research from a holistic perspective, and confirmed the research objectives, research methods and research content; then after a lot of reading and careful compilation of relevant literature, the author presented the definition and the types of ideological and political course motivation, and introduced several important theories on motivation as the theoretical foundation of this thesis; then, based on the results of the questionnaire towards the arts and sciences students, the author analyzed the general existing problems to find out the difference of learning motivation between the liberal arts students and science students, and to explain the reasons for causing the differences; finally, based on the theories andresults of the questionnaire, this thesis confirmed the principles and preconditions of cultivating and stimulating the political learning motivation. By combining the theories with the teaching practice, this thesis promoted some specific strategies on cultivating and stimulating the liberal arts and science students’motivation of learning political lessons respectively.Compared with the former scholars’researches on the learning motivation of middle school politics lesson, this thesis high pointed the "people-oriented" concept. By fully taking into account the various situations of the different learning objectives, contents, methods, study habits of the arts and sciences students in political lessons and the students constantly developing pluralistic values, this thesis aims to improve the timeliness and operability of the strategies. However, due to the lack of teaching experience and the section limitations of the survey, this thesis is a bit shallow; the author will exert to improve the study in-depth in the future study and work.
