Along with China’s rapid economic development and their livingstandard improvement, the requirements of their living environmentcontinuously increase. For example, people do greening and beautifyingtheir urban environment with landscape and tree preservation. As a result,the senior talents majoring in Landscape Architecture are now the hottestin need of market. However, the landscape professional education of thevocational colleges started late, due to lack of experience in education,in teaching there are many problems. Especially the implementationproblems are more prominent in the construction of curriculum system andteaching. The solutions to these problems are vital, not only toclarifying the training objectives in Landscape Architecture specialty,but also to the career developments of the Landscape Architecturegraduates in vocational colleges and the majors’ survival anddevelopment in the future.Based on the relevant curriculum and teaching theory, the author madeand conducted a questionnaire survey in the Landscape Architecture majors inGuangzhou City Polytechnic and also in some well-known landscape gardeningindustries on behalf of the employers. The present study has made an analysis ofthe current teaching status and identified the yet-to-be solved problemsand finally proposed the practical strategies of teaching reform. Thisthesis is divided into four parts:Chapter I mainly demonstrates the reasons of choosing the theme, thesignificance of the research and also presents this research content,research methodology and defines the keywords, giving the readers a clearpicture of the whole research.Chapter II is devoted to a literature review to sort out the relatedresearch at home and abroad. By this means, the author is trying to collect the useful data and materials for a better development and further reformof teaching method in Landscape Architecture specialty in Guangzhou CityPolytechnic.Chapter III is the main body of the thesis. In this part, the authorpinpoints the current problems existed in the teaching of LandscapeArchitecture specialty in Guangzhou City Polytechnic. Combined with theresults of the student questionnaire and the results of the employerquestionnaire and the practical teaching status in Guangzhou CityPolytechnic, the study expounds a systemic analysis from five aspects,such as courses set-up, the practical teaching, teaching methods,textbook selection and teaching staff employment. The survey resultspresent the following problems: that the Guangzhou City Polytechnicgarden Teaching the following problems: the irrelevance of the curriculum,courses unmatched with industry demand; the inefficiency of practicalteaching, the formal work placement, the lack of training bases; theuninteresting teaching methods, unable to stimulate students learningeffectively; the unsatisfied selected textbooks as well as the overalllevel of teachers needs to be strengthened.Chapter IV proposes five practical strategies of the LandscapeArchitecture Teaching Reform aiming to solve the above problems based onthe "employment-oriented" theory. Firstly, make an accurate trainingobjective and improve the curriculum system. Secondly, strengthen thepractical teaching. Thirdly, update the teaching concept, using a widerange of teaching methods. Fourthly, compose and publish specialtextbooks for our Landscape Gardening majors. Fifthly, establish ahigh-quality teaching force of Double Division Type.This study has deliberated the current status of Teaching Reform ofLandscape Architecture specialty and sought to provide some usefulsuggestions for its rapid and healthy development in Guangzhou City Polytechnic, and it is also an honor for the author to provide somereferences to the following researches of Teaching Reform and Developmentin the rest of vocational colleges...
