| Economic globalization and the advent of the Internet era, present newchallenges for university ideological and political education work. What are effectiveways in ideological and political education in the new situation is a new topic we arenow facing.16th CPC National Congress on the views to further strengthen andimprove ideological and political education work:"efforts to expand the effective wayof ideological and political education under the new situation,"give full play to theParty organizations in the ideological and political education role." The SeventeenthParty Congress again stressed:"to strengthen and improve ideological and politicalwork, attention to personal care and psychological counseling and correctly handlinginterpersonal relations." Therefore, personal care and psychological counseling arenew ideas and new requirements for current ideological and political education.Peer support, as the name suggests, is referring to friends or peers helping eachother. The research and application of peer support is limited to psychologicalcounseling industry for the time being. This article will be bold in applying peersupport to university student ideological and political education. The method isinnovative, and also a response to the requirements of the Party.This article is divided into five parts.The first part introduces the significance of peer support, the current situation,and research methodology.The second part describes the current definition by domestic and foreign expertson the peer support, and to further expand its connotation and extension.
