With the reform of high education having been perfected from the nineties of last century, physical education in colleges has changed a lot. Meanwhile, high requirements on talents cultivation of physical education are required because of social needs. In this background, course’s system of gymnastics in physical education of colleges has been changed from single mode of largeness and entireness in the past to the system of fitness, practice, small entertainment and popularity. As an important part of education, school PE plays a significant role in the system of education of cultivating talent of high quality.Gymnastics is not only a very important component of physical education in China, but also one of the main courses in physical education of normal universities. It plays an important role in the formation and development of the students’knowledge and the improvement of students’abilities. It has an important status in the PE teaching in various school sports. The content of gymnastics class, as main course of physical education, needs to be gradually reformed and perfected according to the teaching development of high and primary school and actual needs for gymnastics teachers. In the process of teaching, promoting physical and mental health of students is seen as primary target of teaching, strengthening cultivation on health concept of students, training sports talent with strong and integrated ability, actively promoting the teaching reform of higher education to adapt social needs.Under the guide of the concept of curriculum and course goals, gymnastics courses also emphasize on contacting the reality of life, paying attention to the foundation, comprehensiveness, popularity and health with the basis of the original. Using gymnastics to develop physical fitness is very effective for explosive power, sensitivity and coordination, etc. Because of the rich content of gymnastics and more exercise to select, the characteristics of gymnastics determine its important values in the development of physical fitness.Based on predecessors research, this paper takes the methods of integrated literature and the use, expert interview, questionnaire investigation, statistics, etc. Doing research on teaching status of gymnastics general class in PE department in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the author of the paper states the advantage of development, acknowledging the experience of success, pointing out some existing problems, putting forward some suggestion and countermeasures that promote teaching development of gymnastics general class in PE department in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region according to teaching reform status of university physical education. It has great practical meanings and function of theoretical instruction on gymnastics teaching in PE education of university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and other parts of whole nation.Conclusions:1, teaching targets of teachers in gymnastics teaching are clear in PE department in Inner Mongolia University, and teachers have strong teaching skills, high responsibility and knowledge level. But the "three high" teachers are gone seriously, teacher’s research levels are low and they master less modern teaching means and methods.2, the prominent of "relative" relationships are found in gymnastics teachers in PE department in Inner Mongolia; old age are majority in teachers’group; class structure appears fault; the percentage of female teachers and existing qualifications of teachers are low.3, thin foundation of gymnastics within students leads to the low quality of and the trend of decline.
