With the development of Internet technologies, especially Web2.0a new class ofInternet applications, they provides a good opportunity for our informal networklearning, they are also more effective complement to traditional forms of education.Learners can freely mix a variety of network tools (such as blogs, RSS, wiki, etc.) inorder to build a web-based personal learning environment. Subsequently, theemergence of a polymerization technique-Mashup-has injected Web2.0networkenvironment new blood. Mashup has not only inherited the core idea of Web2.0, butalso a step forward. It allows learners mix multiple applications or services accordingto their needs, and finally creates new value-added Web applications and services.Today, the representative mashup sites which can be used to build the personallearning environment should be iGoogle, Netvibes, Pageflakes and so on.At present, the status of study of the Personal Learning Environment is: First, theobject of study are students in school, teacher training or corporate training, and lessinvolved remote learners; Second, it is mainly based on the distributed Web2.0tools,lacking study of the Mashup Personal Learning Environment; Third is the lack ofstudy of learner self-monitoring strategy. Basing on such background of these studies,first, this paper uses literature analysis not only to summarize the research status athome and abroad, but also to explore the theoretical basis and the key concepts, anddesigns the questionnaire of situation of distance learners’ building Personal LearningEnviroment on the basis of that. Second, this paper uses questionnaire method to findthe problems which distance learners have in building Personal LearningEnviroment.After the analysis of the survey results, the main problems are follows:First, arbitrary learning activities designing; Second, access to learning resourcesare obstacles is not available; Third, these is blindness to use tools; Fourth,self-management capacity is weak. Focusing on the problems which distance learnershave in building Personal Learning Enviroment, this paper proposes a buidingframework, building technologies, building requirements and building strategy ofMashup Personal Learning Enviroment for distance learners. Finally, under theguidance of the theoretical framework,this paper designs a case of English MashupPersonal Learning Environment in order to make distance learners have someperceptual knowledge. Through this study, we expect to help distance learners to build a personalizedMashup Personal Learning Enviroment, and to achieve the goal of Lifelong Learningfinally.
