With the arrival of knowledge society, the international competitionis increasingly fierce. Our country makes major strategic policydecisions on building an innovation-oriented country. The cultivationand enhancement of innovation ability has become the hot issue of socialconcern. The postgraduate education, which is the highest level in thehigher education structure, is the main way of training senior innovativetalents. Therefore, many educators through the world pay more and moreattention on the study and cultivation of the graduate students’innovative abilities, but those research often stands on the science andengineering students perspective, while ignores the related research onthe cultivation of the Liberal Arts graduate students’ innovativeability. We should make clear that, in the construction of an innovativecountry, we not only need the contribution of natural science, but wemore need the prosperity and development of humanities and socialsciences. Therefore, the training research of Liberal Arts graduatestudents’ innovative ability becomes a major issue that cannot be ignored.On the basis of introducing the background of the Liberal Arts graduatestudents’ innovative ability and discussing the connotation ofHumanities and Social Sciences, This paper makes some investigation andanalysis on the current situation of the Liberal Arts graduate students’innovation ability, then reveals the deficiencies and problems about theindividual student and the objective environment, and puts forward thestrategy on how to improve the Liberal Arts graduates’ innovation.This paper is organized as follows: Section1presents the researchsituation, research ideas and research methods through home and abroad.Section2discusses the background and significance on the cultivationof the Liberal Arts graduate students’ innovative ability. Section3 introduces the scientific connotation of humanities and social sciencesinnovation, in order to provide direction and target of the Liberal Artsgraduate students’ innovative ability training. Section4makes someinvestigation and study on the current situation of the Liberal Artsgraduate students’ innovative ability, and analyzes many reasons on theinadequacy of the present Liberal Arts graduate students’ innovationability through the data analysis method, The first is the students’own problem in graduating motivation, the mode of thinking, knowledgereserves and practice; The second reason is the objective environment,including the deficiencies in recruiting mechanism, teaching system,management mode and academic atmosphere. In view of the insufficiencyon the Liberal Arts graduate students’ innovation ability, Section5attempts to explore several paths in order to improve the Liberal Artsgraduate students’ innovation ability: the first is to increase theinnovative education on Liberal Arts Graduate students in order tostimulate the enthusiasm of academic study; the second is to explore theLiberal Arts graduates’ education law so as to establish a new trainingmode; the third is to strive for social resources in order to build thesocial practice and application platform.
