Along with the economic development and social transformation, progressively collective protests happened in China, which absorbs the interests from academia. Most social science researches discuss the pattern of contention in collective protests from the perspective of social structure change. In contrast, scholar pays more attention on the social variables from micro approach in this article, in order to explore specific casual mechanisms. By means of cases comparison, the research finds that:1. there are wide differences in the pattern of contention between the workers from state-owned enterprises and migrant workers;2. the differences in the pattern of contention come from the diverse ways of mobilization; and3. the ways of mobilization embedded in the institutional networks with Chinese characteristics. |
